Inception Workshop on Geo-Surface Processes and Regional Adaption to Climate Change in Himalaya Region was held in IMHE, Chengdu on 10th July, 2009. Experts from Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Chengdu Institute of Biology and Bureau of International Cooperation attended the workshop. Professor DENG Wei and ZHANG Yili presided over the meeting. DENG Wei gave a detail introduction about the project. ZHANG Yili i explained how to conduct scientific investigation and field work. Participants presented the work have done and the next work. Then, they had discussion on some issues of concern and reached a common consensus. As a key project of CAS, the aim of this project is to build up a mass of resources both at home and scientists from ICIMOD to develop closer cooperation with member countries of ICIMOD on basic research, carry out the field investigation, observation and simulator investigation in typical transboundary-area of Himalaya region, adopt inversion analysis methods for multi-sources spatial-data and carry out integrated research on evolution of hydrological cycle and terrestrial ecosystem and environment hazard under climate change and lay a good foundation for Sustainable Management of multilateral resources and international cooperation.
