IMHE Experts Provides Technology for the Hazard Prevention of Karakoram Highway in Pakistan TEXT SIZE: A A A

Commissioned by China Road & Bridge Corporation (CRBC), experts from Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), CAS completed consulting report about the emergency risk assessment of landslide and dammed lake of the Karakoram Highway in Pakistan.

Based on the analysis and field investigation of landslide and dammed lake in Atabad, experts simulated the height of lake outburst in different dam height, calculated the flow of lake outburst and flood routing, and evaluate the risk of KKH project and facilities, and finally work out the possible flood flow and flooding height in the lower river. Experts also proposed suggestions on emergency countermeasures in the consulting report.

The consulting report provides technology for CRBC. Meantime, IMHE experts will continue to provide technical consultation service for the next work.

Expert term was composed of five people, Prof. CUI Peng, Prof. CHENG Zunlan, Prof. ZHANG Xiaogang, Prof. CHEN Xiaoqing and Dr. ZHUANG Jianqi.
