Staffs from IECA and WASWAC visit IMHE TEXT SIZE: A A A

Mr. Will Mahoney, soil fund ambassador of IECA (International Erosion Control Association), Mr. Chinapatana Sukvibool, vice president of WASWAC (World Association of Soil and Water Conservation) and official of the Land Development Department of Thailand, and Dr. Winai Wangpimool, civil engineer of Bureau of Mekong Basin Management, Department of Water Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand visited IMHE (Institute of Mountain Hazards, CAS) on August 17, 2012.

On behalf of Prof. Deng Wei , the Director of IMHE, Prof. Qiu Dunlian, the chief of the Information Center, and Prof. Xiong Donghong , the deputy chief of the Department of Research Administration under IMHE, warmly greeted the guests. IMHE staffs Chen Wei , Li Xiang also attended the communication and discussion.

First, Prof. Xiong made an introduction about the developmental history, organization structure, research departments, field observation stations, and research achievements of IMHE. As far as the soil erosion issues the guests were concerned, Prof. Xiong introduced the morphological features, controlling factors, key research topics, and cooperative research prospects in the Yuanmou dry-hot valley, SW China. The three guests showed strong interest in the morphological features of the gully erosion. Mr. Will Mahoney warmly invited IMHE researchers to the USA to have an on-the-spot investigation on the gully erosion morphology and related prevention technology. Mr. Chinapatana Sukvibool invited IMHE researchers to attend the 2nd WASWAC World Conference to be held in Thailand in May 2013.

The guests then visited the exhibition hall and the debris flow simulation hall of IMHE .
