From 11th to 13th September, Ding Zhongli and Zhan Wenlong, Vice President of CAS, arrived at the Alpine Ecosystem Observation and Experiment Station of Mt. Gongga to inspect the field station construction and scientific research progresses .

They firstly looked over the infrastructure and research situations, and listened to a detailed report made by Professor Wang Gengxu, the head of the field station, on the development history, disciplinary orientation, scientific objectives, main research progresses and future planning scenarios of the field station etc. Ding Zhongli , Zhan Wenlong and Fan Weiming, Director of  Bureau of Science and Technology for Resources and the Environment made a discussion and exchange with the backbone staff members of the station on the response and simulation of alpine typical ecosystems to the changed environment, the method adjust of displacement observation of alpine ecology, and the scientific issues in the course of glaciers evolutions of Mt. Gongga.

During the inspection, they also went to the observation base station of Mt. Gongga which is located in 3000 meters and the field sampling sites to inspect the basic station construction and research sample collection in spite of the rain, and fully affirmed the infrastructure construction and the conservation of the sample area, in addition, they put forward some scientific advices to the distribution planning of the sample area, and focused on the refining of scientific issues and the exploration of new frontier of science, and the in-depth systematic research.

Furthermore, the leaders of CAS  also interviewed with Yang Kai, member of Standing Committee of Chinese communist Party of Gan Zi Prefecture, Chen Rong, vice secretary general of the government , Qiu Faguo, director of the Scientific Bureau of Gan Zi Prefecture in the course of inspection. Yang Kai put forward some scientific and technology demands for the regional economic improvement after an introduction of the overall natural and social situation of Gan Zi Prefecture. The leaders of CAS, made it clear that the subject advantages of the Institutes of CAS, such as Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS(IMHE) can be taken use of, and communications and exchanges should be strengthened to actively help the region development, especially further the cooperation on the regional development of special industries depending on the local superior resources to provide strong scientific support to the development of local economic society.

The inspection and investigation in Mt. Gongga was entirely accompanied by Deng Wei and Wen Anbang, Director and Vice Director of IMHE.
