Dr. Othmar Schwank, an evaluation expert from International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) visits Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), CAS on April 12, 2010.

Prof.WEI Fangqiang, deputy director of IMHE met with Dr.Othmar SchwanK in the meeting room. Prof.WEI said that he was delighted to see ICIMOD made some changes in development strategy. ICIMOD paid more attention to enhance the corporation and exchanges with government, and broaden the partnership in member countries. ICIMOD plays more and more important role in promoting the sustainable development of the HKH region and improving the living standard of the people of the region. Prof. WEI also hoped that ICIMOD would enhance multilateral and regional cooperation in HKH region to support and coordinates the next work.

Prof. HU Pinghua, head of the Secretariat of the Chinese Committee on ICIMOD (CNICIMOD), reported on the work in progress since the establishment of CNICIMOD and put forward some important suggestion about the international exchange of young scientific and technical personnel.

Under the arrangement of CNICIMOD, Dr. Othmar Schwank visited Chengdu Institute of Biology, CAS and Sichuan Grassland Science Academy.

Assessment team composed of major sponsors of Norway, Germany, Switzerland and experts from member countries were reviewing ICIMOD’s work in 2009. Dr. Othmar Schwank took charge of the evaluation work in China.
