Aimed to boost exchange on debris flow formation and prevention, the workshop attracted more than 70 participants, including 20 foreign guests from Asia.
The participants had a heated discussion on debris flow disasters, including the mechanism and early-warning of debris flows as well as the impact of climate change on them. They conclude the workshop by reaching a consensus to establish the Asian Network on Debris Flow in the next workshop that will be held in 2011 or 2012.
They also took field inspection on disaster-afflicted areas of Sichuan, including Qingping township, Zhouqu and Beichuan county.
