A four-member delegation headed by DENG Wei, director of the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of sciences (IMHE, CAS) paid a visit to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba (CITMA) from March 29 to April 5, 2011.

IMHE delegation visits CITMA

The visit was designed to react to the S&T cooperative agreement signed by IMHE and CITMA on October 21, 2010. It aims to conduct practical cooperation and exchange on issues relating to mountain hazards in mountainous areas of Cuba.

The delegation took field inspection in Cuban implementary bodies of the agreement, including National Centre for Sysmological Research and Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa Mountain Office of Cuba.

Both sides presented the latest research achievements respectively and confirmed to carry out cooperation in engineering prevention, mountainous environment protection, mountain area development as well as the evaluation, prediction and early-warning of mountain hazards. They also pledged to renew the agreement at an appropriate time.
