Dr. Deng Wei, director of Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS, presided over the workshop. He overviewed the status of implementation of the project, summarized the achievement obtained and put forward the objective of next phase, and gave suggestions to further promoting collaboration with ICIMOD.
Dr. Ouyang Hua, programme manager of Integrated Water and Hazard Management, International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), appreciated the achievement of the project and expressed that the successful implementation of this project has set up a typical example in multilateral transboundary cooperation with ICIMOD. Dr. David Molden, new director general of ICIMOD gave high appraise on this project, and expressed that ICIMOD is willing to increase budget on this research field, put forward the project proposals with Chinese partners, and strive for multiple resources to further the development.
Participants discussed some issues including work content in the stage of work summary, and new research proposal in the next stage on the base of this project. According to this meeting, an international cooperation team has been consolidated and enlarged, and the solid foundation for deepening the international scientific research cooperation has been laid.
