Chinese Committee on International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (CNICIMOD) Consultation Meeting was held in Chengdu on February 11, 2012.
Dr. David Molden, director general of ICIMOD, Dr. OUYANG Hua, programme manager of Integrated Water and Hazard Management, ICIMOD, Dr. WU Ning, programme manager of Environmental Change and Ecosystem Services, ICIMOD, Dr. DENG Wei, secretary-general of CNICIMOD, and Dr. WEI Fangqiang, deputy secretary-general was present in the meeting.

Mr. HU Pinghua, head of CNICIMOD Office delivered a speech of 2012 Working Prospects of CNICIMOD. According to his speech, CNICIMOD will focus on the following aspects such as research project, capacity building, and academic exchange based on the summary of last five-year’s development.
Participants had a lively discussion about the future plan of CNICIMOD and made constructive suggestions. Dr. Molden fully acknowledges the work done by CNICIMOD, especially the coordination work in the implementation of research work in Himalaya region and developing cooperation with ICIMOD. Dr. Molden said the organization form and experience of CNICIMOD is worth of spreading in other member countries. In the end, Dr. Molden made suggestion on the information sharing and the application of new project, and he hope built a closer cooperation relationship with CNICIMOD.
CNICIMOD is the national committee representing ICIMOD’s collaborative partners in China. It is a regional organization covering western China committed to mountain research and development. Together with other partners, CNICIMOD will bring together Chinese technological workers, government organizations, and NGOs to promote scientific and technological exchange and collaboration between China and its circumjacent countries in the Hindu Kush-Himalayan region, and to increase contributions to environmental conservation and sustainable development in the region, using the platform of ICIMOD regional collaboration. CNICIMOD’s mission is to build prosperous and secure mountain communities committed to peace, equity, and environmental sustainability.
