On March 2, 2012, Italy scientist delegation visited Institute of Mountain Hazard and Environment, CAS (IMHE, CAS).

Italy scientists presented the status and research progress of debris flow in Italy in the academic exchange meeting. Dr. Alessandro Pasuto, from Research Institute for Hydrological and Geological Hazard Prevention of Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (IRPI-CNR) gave a lecture entitled “Integrating Structural and Non-structural Mitigation Measures for Reducing Debris Flow Risk in a Heavily Urbanized Area”. Dr. Rinaldo Genevois, from Department of Geosciences, University of Padova gave a lecture entitled “Debris Flows Research Activities”. Dr. Carlo Gregoretti，also from University of Padova gave a lecture entitled “Monitoring Debris Flows: the Experience in PARAmount Project of Alpine Space Programme of European Union”. Then, Italy scientists had heated discussion with IMHE researchers about debris flow prevention.

After the meeting, Italy scientists visited Harder-Hit Area of Wenchuan Earthquake, accompanied by Dr. HU Kaiheng and Dr. GE Yonggang from IMHE.
