Prof. Holden from University College Dublin visits IMHE |

From September 4- 7, 2013,Prof. Nicholas Holden from University College Dublin, Ireland visited Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), CAS.
During his visit in IMHE, Prof. Holden gave a lecture entitled with“The Interaction of Dairy Production with the Environment in Ireland”,he introduced Irish agricultural systems, water and nutrient management in the agriculture landscape and visual soil structure assessment.

| Then, he visited the Yanting Agro-ecological Experimental Station of Purple Soil, and gave a lecture about how to write a journal paper for the postgraduates on the station. During the field excursion, Prof. Holden had given some useful advices about the catchment monitoring and modeling. He also suggested a collaborating framework for collaborating in postgraduate projects and for promoting the researches on system assessments and technology.
Prof. Nicholas Holden studies geographical and soil sciences to PhD level and then works as an NERC research fellow (UK) and a Newman Scholar (Irl) looking at water and nutrient transport process in soils and the controlling influence of soil structure. As a member of the biosystems engineering discipline since 1998, he teaches life cycle assessment, research and teaching methods and project modules. He has also supervised research and published extensively on bioresource management, agricultural systems and soil science.
