Editorial Member Prof. Kenneth HEWITT Visits IMHE TEXT SIZE: A A A

At the invitation of Prof QIU Dunlian, the Executive Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Mountain Science (JMS), editorial member, Prof. Kenneth HEWITTfrom Wilfrid Laurier University, visited the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), Chinese Academy of Sciences while he came to Chengdu to attend the 4thInternational Symposium on Mega Earthquake Induced Geo-disasters and Long Term Effects which was held in the Chengdu University of Technology during May 8th to 11th. 

On May 8th, Prof. Hewitt had a talk with JMS editors and gave some suggestions on how to organize special issues and raise journal international impact. 

When learning that editorial member, Prof. MatthiasKhule lost his life in Nepal Earthquakewhile accompanying a party of students on a field excursion, Prof. QIU proposed JMS editors and members hold a special memory on Prof. Khule, a world renowned glacial geomorphologist from the University of Göttingen. Several members have discussed and decided to write a memorial article for Prof. MatthiasKhule, and organize a special issue on glacier research..  

In the morning of May 15th, Prof. Hewitt gave a lecture to the staff and students in the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment on the subject “A naturally fragmented high mountain river system: The Trans-Himalayan upper Indus Basin”. Then, Prof. CUI Peng, the Editor-in-Chief, met with the editors.
