A symposium on mountain economy will take place on 6-8 May, 2014 in Guiyang, China, organized by Guizhou University of Finance and Economics (GUFE) with support from the Guizhou provincial government.
The aim of this symposium is to focus on the importance of mountain economy and the approaches and methods for promoting development in mountainous areas. The symposium will focus in particular on environment and land use systems at global level. It will look at the linkages with culture, environmental management, food security, and improving livelihoods and economic activities in mountainous areas.
The symposium will be held in English.
About 10 professionals will be admitted to the symposium and preference will be given to participants coming from countries and organizations which are members of the Mountain Partnership. Participants from both developing and developed countries are encouraged to apply. To the extent possible, financial support of no more than ￥10 000 RMB per capita will be provided for a maximum of one participant for members from each country.
