l　Research on soil erosion 137Cs element tracer 

Dr. Zhang Xinbao from IMHE has been cooperating with IAEA since 1996, and has participated twice in IAEA’s Five-year Plan Program. Research on Investigation of soil erosion and sedimentation by using nuclide tracers of 137Cs, 210Pbex and 7Be in the upper Yangtze River Basin of China is highly appraised by IAEA, and long-term cooperation between the two can be expected.

l　ecological function evaluation and ecological function protection area plan in the upper Yangtze River

This project chooses typical regions in the upper Yangtze to make integrated ecological function evaluation and plan, aiming at boosting ecological management and setting an example for international application.

l　Sloping and optical fiber sensor system

This is a joint project between IMHE and Dalhousie University, Canada, focusing on the problems of anchor-bar design, construction, maintenance and monitor. This cooperation will put forward integrated and systematic solutions and set up an anchor-bar reinforce and optical fiber sensor system.

l　Key techniques on Environmental protection and geological disaster prevention of Kalakunlun road

This Project is an international aid program based on China and Pakistan’s agreement. ICIMOD, as a link boost the cooperation between IMHE and Peshawar University, Pakistan.

l　International Organization-CNICIMOD

CN-ICIMOD is the national committee representing ICIMOD’s collaborative partners in China. It is a regional organization covering western China committed to mountain research and development. Together with other partners, CN-ICIMOD will bring together Chinese technological workers, government organizations, and NGOs to promote scientific and technological exchange and collaboration between China and its circumjacent countries in the Hindu Kush-Himalayan region, and to increase contributions to environmental conservation and sustainable development in the region, using the platform of ICIMOD regional collaboration. CN-ICIMOD’s mission is to build prosperous and secure mountain communities committed to peace, equity, and environmental sustainability. Recently, CNICIMOD has played an important role in strengthening China’s cooperation with East Union, Nepal, Cuba, Japan and Russia.
