Chengdu Mountain Hazard and Environment, CAS (IMHE) undertook the emergency prevention project on debris flow and floods in Songpan County in June 2008.

This project was commissioned by Water Resource Bureau of Songpan County. Professor MA Dongtao, WANG Xianlin, HUANG Hai mainly took charge of this project. Experts of IMHE made in-depth investigation and study of local environment, and solved lots of practical problem. This project was launched in October, 2008 and completed in middle of October, 2009.

After 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake, two large scale debris flows happened in Songpan County, resulting in terrible transportation block on the State Road No.213.
