Typical Project Introduction

National 973 Project

Title: Evolution rules of environment and water resource in the Yangtze River

Host: He Xiubin

Period: 2003.11-2008.10

Objectives

1. To disclose water resource and environmental space-time change process and characteristics in upriver region, and the water resource response rules to river basin environmental change;

2. To explore the environmental background of large-scale water conservancy and its impact under changing environmental conditions, and to disclose the evolution rules of mountain rivers and plain rivers in face of multi-factors.

3. To establish an innovative research group and cultivate 10 postgraduate students;

4. To disseminate more than 7 papers and works.

Content

1. The impact of climate and land cover change on hydrology and water resource.

2. River and lake evolution rules and its impact factors in the mid-down Yangtze River.

Title: Interaction mechanism of upriver environment change and water and sand formation

Host: Cui Peng

Period: 2003-2008

Objectives

Total Objective

To illuminate the upriver water sand process and its space-time change rules of the Yangtze River; to estabish a dynamic model on soil erosion to sand and sand transfer in demonstration areas; to disclose the coupling mechanism and the disaster effect of soil erosion and ecological environment degradation.

Specific Objectives

1. To disclose the water and sand formation space-time changing rules in different ecological and hydrological areas;

2. To find out erosion intensity and sand source of dominant land in key sand formation area.

3. To estabish a dynamic model on soil erosion to sand and sand transfer in demonstration areas;

4. To establish an indicator system and model of evaluating the impact of environmental change on different river basin levels;

5. To disclose the coupling mechanism and the disaster effect of soil erosion and ecological environment degradation.

6. To cultivate over 10 younger talented researchers and to disseminate more than 8 international level papers.

Content

This program mainly discloses the invironmental change in the Yangtze River and the interaction rules and space-time mechanism of water and sand formation. Details are listed as follows:

1. The space-time changing rules of water and sand formation in different ecological and hydrological areas and its scale effect.

2. A dynamic model on soil erosion to sand and sand transfer in demonstration areas

3. Response relationship between environmental change and water and sand formation in key sand formation areas and an evaluation model

4. The coupling mechanism and the disaster effect of soil erosion and ecological environment degradation

Project Title: Water ecological process, water environmental effect and ecological security adjustment in wetland of Huanghuai region

Program Title: Coupling mechanism of water ecological process and pattern in wetland ecological system

Host:  Deng Wei

Period: 2007-2011

Objective

To illuminate inner water ecological process and space-related pattern of all elements in wetland system of Huanghuai region; to understand wetland system water ecological pattern change and its main diver mechanism; to disclose coupling mechanism of water ecological process and pattern in wetland ecological system; to analyse interaction mechanism between wetland water ecological process and pattern; to offer scientific guidence for degraded wetland restoration, protection and management, and macro-control and adjustment based on water ecological security and water environmental security.

Content

Based on wetland system thoery and wetland system net background of three horizontals and two verticals in Huanghuai region, researches are mainly focus on:

1. Inner mechanism of wetland system water ecological process in Huanghuai region

2. Wetland system water ecological pattern change and its main diver mechanism

3. Coupling mechanism of water ecological process and pattern in wetland ecological system based on different scales

Project title: Mountain rock desertification and ecological system adjustment for adaption in southeast karst area

Program Title: Mountain soil erosion process and risk assessment on soil erosion in southeast karst area

Host: Zhang Xinbao

Period: 2007-2011

Objective

 To disclose erosion to sand rule and transfer rule of a small river basin channel in karst mountain area, and quantify the soil erosion of the slope and small river basin, applying tracing technology particularly; to calculate proper erosion amount of different ecological and environmental types, and establish an indicator system for soil erosion risk evaluation; to offer recommendations for water and soil conservation in southeast karst area.

1. Erosion to sand mechanism and soil erosion quantitive forecasting model of farming and non-farming poor soil layer slopes

2. Erosion to sand mechanism in karst mountain small river basin and erosion to sand in different ecological environmental small river basin forecasting model

3. Proper erosion amount calculation and indicator system for soil erosion risk evaluation

Content

This study adopts the method of joint calculation and simulation inside and outside to analyse the impact of sticky particle content on gravel soil intensity change.

 

NNSF Project

Title:Distributing single channel debris flow forecasting model

Host: Cui Peng

Period: 2007.1-2009.12

Objective

This study researches sloping water-soil dynamic process and channel water-soil dynamic process in debris flow area to disclose space-time coupling mechanism of water-soil dynamic system and design a distributing single channel debris flow forecasting model.

Title:  Research on characteristics of stress change for soil body move by debris flow and its baseline rainfall alert value

Host:  Wang Yuyi

Period:  2007.1-2009.12

Content

1) Accumulative river basin development and soil body level composing characteristics of low frequency finite incompact solid matter in debris flow channel and valley, based on typical examples such as Sichuan, Yunnan, Xizang, etc.

2)  Data analysis on different impact of different rainfall processes and object rainfall on probability of debris flow happenning, and on extreme rainfall characteristics.  

3) Compressive stress parameter calculation

4) Debris flow forecasting model
