2010 Annual Meeting of “Demonstration of Soil Erosion and Non-point Source Pollution Control in Three Gorges Reservoir Area” Project was held in Zhongxian County, Chongqing on March 5th, 2010.

“Demonstration of Soil Erosion and Non-point Source Pollution Control in Three Gorges Reservoir Area” Project is one of the CAS Action-Plan for West Development, host by Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), CAS.

Participants visited Zhongxian county demonstration area.

This project has made breakthrough progress in main agricultural chemicals’ formation, transfer regulation and interaction mechanism of runoff and sediment. An achievement of sediment and non-point pollutant reduction technique has been applied for sloping lands, paddy fields, natural ditches, low-lying reservoirs, seasonal wetlands and village settlements.

Chief Scientist Prof. HE Xiubin from IMHE reported the overall project. Four project leaders gave a report focus on the main objective and acceptance criteria respectively in the meeting. Leaders from Bureau of Science and Technology for Resources and Environment, CAS and Bureau of Science and Technology of Zhongxian County presented at the meeting and gave address.

After the meeting, participants visited Zhongxian county demonstration area of Three Gorge Reservoir Area.
