IMHE Experts Accomplished Exploration on “6.28” Landslides in Guizhou Province TEXT SIZE: A A A

Experts from Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS (IMHE) accomplished exploration on “6.28” landslides in Guanling County, Guizhou Province.

On June 28th, 2010, a landslide occurred in the Dazai Village of Guizhou Province. The landslide was caused by continuous heavy rainfall, destroyed 37 homes and buried 99 people.

After the accident, IMHE experts, headed by Prof. KONG Jiming, rushed to Guizhou for exploration of this landslide on July 1st, 2010. After one week's fieldwork, experts made detailed investigation and gained first-hand materials.

Based on the first-hand materials, experts discussed the cause, influence and emergency countermeasures of this kink of landslide and the preliminary report was submitted to the government, which contributes a lot to relief work.
