Reconstruction of Sichuan Giant Panda’s Habitat Pushed Forward TEXT SIZE: A A A

The research project “Reconstruction of Sichuan Giant Panda’s Habitat, a World Heritage Site Stricken by the Wenchuan Earthquakepassed the appraisal of the expert group organized by the Sichuan Science and Technology Department on November 19, 2010.

 
 Appraise meeting in IMHE
The project began in 2008 in urgent response to reconstruction of Sichuan Giant Panda’s habitat after the Wenchuan earthquake. Now, after 2 years’ fieldwork and analysis, the research group headed by Prof. CHEN Fubin of Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), Chinese Academy of Sciences has achieved fruitful results. For example, they have produced several major reports on the restoration and reconstruction of both hardware and software facilities in the region.

The expert group was quite satisfied with the scientific data and achievements the project had obtained. “It has provided scientific support and reference for policy-making and implementation of the reconstruction of Sichuan Giant Panda’s habitat”, said the expert group.
