A project of “Soil and Water Conservation Planning in Sichuan Province”undertaken by IMHE made new progress. The project team led by IMHE researcher Liu Shuzhen, accomplished expedition to zone of southern Sichuan basin.
This expedition routed via Neijiang, Zigong, Luzhou, Yibin and other 2 cities of southern Sichuan basin. IMHE team collected background information of soil erosion, experience and planning of soil and water conservation in typical cities of southern Sichuan basin systematically in this expedition. Meantime, in this expedition, IMHE team investigated field soil and water conservation measures and experimental and demonstrational area in typical cities of southern Sichuan basin, focused on the state of soil and water erosion and conservation, soil and water conservation engineering and key industries development, typical prevention case, distribution and soil erosion on sloping farmland, effect of ecological restoration, and the progress, regional ecological development and ecological tourism of large and medium-sized hydropower development project.
From this field expedition, IMHE team checked existing data, got a better understanding of actual situations and needs, so that they can compile this planning more scientifically and reasonable.
