Invited by the Ministry of Land and Resources (MLR) as a member of expert team for earthquake geological hazards, Dr Chen Ningsheng from Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMHE-CAS) partook in and completed geological hazard investigation in the earthquake affected areas of TAR from May 2 to 8, 2015. The investigation examined hazard development and distribution characteristics, as well as level of hazard risks, and provided advice on geological hazard inspection, disaster losses assessment and post-disaster management in the earthquake affected areas. Geological hazard management plan, flood warning equipment installation, as well as community-based early warning system were also proposed for implementation. The advice and suggestions were well received and adopted by concerned government agencies of Tibet autonomous region (TAR).
