Field Stations

1Dongchuan Debris Flow Observation and Research Station

Built in 1961, listed as opening stations of CAS in 1987 and as the national key station for field observation in 2001, Dongchuan station has now become the famous base for studies of debris flow from formation, motion, and deposition to prevention engineering and recovery of hot-dry valley ecology.

2Alpine Ecosystem Observation and Experiment Station of Mt. Gongga

Built in 1987, the station entered the national ecologic research network (CERN) in1992 and was listed as the national key station of field observation in 2003, consisting of the life area in Moxi and an observation site at 3000m of elevation. It is a research base for integrated studies on hydrology, climate, glacier, ecology, hazard, and atmosphere.

3Yanting Agro-ecological Experimental Station of Purple Soil

Built in 1980, entering CERN in 1991, listed as the national key station of field observation in 2005, Yanting Station is the only CERN member of agroecology in the upper Changjiang and now the base of long-term research and popularization of advance agricultural techniques.

4Wanzhou Station of Reservoir Eco-environment Monitoring

Built in 1997, running under the Construction Committee of the Three-Gorge Project, the station contributes to the environment preservation, migration development, and ecosystem construction for the security of the Three-Gorge Project.

5Gully Erosion and Collapse Experimental Station inYuanmou Dry-Hot Valley

Built in 1993, the station has contributed much to studies on environment degradation, vegetation recovery, and water-saving agriculture in hot-dry valleys, providing effective techniques of water and soil conservation and prepotent seeds.

6) Zhongxian soil and water loess and non-point source pollution monitoring station of Three Gorge Reservior

Zhongxian station, as a field station of Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese academy of sciences (CAS) in the Three gorges reservoir area. According to the more severe ecological environmental problems of soil and water loess, non-point pollution and water level fluctuation zone after water storage and resettlement in three gorge reservoir to monitor soil and water loess and non-point source pollution and related experiments.
