Inception Workshop on Koshi River Basin Transboundary Project-Preparatory Phase was held in Kathmandu, Nepal on 22-23 April 2010.
More than 30 experts from International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Tribhuvan University, Nepal, Water & Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS) and related department attended the workshop. Ten experts gave special reports in the workshop to discuss the thematic areas and key issues in the Koshi basin. Dr. Andreas Schild, Director General of ICIMOD presented the meeting and gave a welcome address at the opening ceremony.
A joint fieldtrip in Koshi River Basin
Then a joint field mission was carried out in the following six days with the aim of sharing experiences and observation in the Koshi basin and identifying key issues and opportunities for collaboration. Through the investigation, experts got the previous first-hand information and develop a common understanding of the key issues across the basin.13 experts from CAS and 9 experts from ICIMOD and Nepal attended this fieldtrip.
The second phrase field was planned in early July 2010.
This workshop and field mission was under the CAS project “Geo-Surface Processes and Regional Adaption to Climate Change in Himalaya Region”, which received full support from ICIMOD.
