The kick-off meeting of 973 project on “Mechanisms and Risk Analysis of Extremely Large Mountain Torrents and Debris Flows in Western China” was held in Beijing on Jan. 25, 2011. 

 
 CUI Peng gave a report in the Kick-off meeting.
The project will be mainly undertaken by the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMHE, CAS). IMHE researcher CUI Peng, chief scientist of the project, gave an account of the project and put forward guidelines for its implementation at the meeting attended by 6 CAS academicians. CUI also gave the attendees an overview of the project’s research team composed of experienced experts in related field.

After the meeting, the project team also held a working conference to address the defects of the project by fully taking advices from the attendees.
