Recently, an initiate meeting on the project of ‘Dynamic Process and Regulation Stimulation of Debris Flow’ which is the first topic of the CAS’s key program ‘Prevention Mechanism and Prediction Approach against Typical Geo-hazards’ and its first working meeting were held in Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences(IMHE). At the meeting, an advisory group and a working office were founded. Academician Liu Changming, head of advisory group and Dr. Deng Wei, director of IMHE jointly hosted the meeting. Leaders and experts from Bureau of Science and Technology for Resource and Environment, Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, CAS(IRSM), Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Sichuan University attended this meeting.
Feng Renguo, deputy director of Bureau of Science and Technology for Resource and Environment, introduced the background of this project and requirement of CAS, for it is a key project of CAS, leaders of CAS have great expectations on this project and hope the all scientific researchers carry on an in-depth study for the objectives of project, and build up a Chinese debris flow stimulation platform to provide technological support to simulation and mitigation of debris flow’s hazards.
Deputy director Sheng Qian of IRSM introduced the main research content and requirement of program for this topic. Researcher Cui Peng from IMHE, leader of this topic, made a report on the key scientific issues to be solved in this topic, main research content, subtopic construction, implementation plan and so on. During the meeting, persons in charge of four subtopics Dr. Cui Xiaopeng from Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Dr. Cui Peng, Dr.Hu Kaiheng and Chen Xiaoqing from IMHE made reports on implementation plan of subtopics respectively.
There was an energetic discussion on implementation plan and establishment of stimulation platform of all subtopics, and some constructive comments and suggestions are put forward.
After the initiate meeting, research team held a topic work meeting to seriously analyzed the deficiencies of the current implement plan, and fully understand and absorb suggestions from advisory group and further condense key scientific issues to be exceeded in the period of project implementation. Zhai Jinliang, deputy director of Division of Land and Remote Sensing Science, Bureau of Science and Technology for Resource and Environment, emphasized the importance of the project and earnest expectations of leaders of CAS, and gave some instructive suggestions to research team.
In addition, some specific measures about implementation of suggestions from advisory group had been made to lay an effective foundation for the successful implementation of the project.
