To further impulse the first national water and freeze-thaw erosion census, as well as guarantee the successful complement of the nationwide freeze-thaw erosion intensity evaluation, Niu Chonghuan, deputy chief of Department of Soil and Water Conservation of The Ministry of Water Resource of the People’s Republic of China(MWR),recently visited Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS (IMHE), and carried on the inspection and instruction for the nationwide freeze-thaw erosion census conducted by IMHE.Researcher Deng Wei, director of IMHE,researcher Xiong Donghong, deputy division chief of Department of Research Administration, researcher Liu Shuzhen and other main members of project team attended the meeting presided over by Xiong Donghong.
At the work report meeting, researcher Liu Shuzhen introduced the background, main research content of nationwide freeze-thaw erosion census project and brief information about soil and water conservation in Sichuan Province to the participants. On behalf of project team, Liu Bintao made a comprehensive report about the calculation analysis of nationwide freeze-thaw erosion intensity and work content of mapping project, situation of project progress, quality control plan and preliminary achievement.
Niu Chonghuan affirmed the stage fundamental achievements made by project team members, he said that the researchers of IMHE had preliminarily completed the nationwide freeze-thaw erosion calculation analysis by overcoming the difficulties including lack of basic data, hard field work and imperfect theory and so on, MWR expressed heartfelt thanks to this and suggested that the outcome form and precision control should be further strengthened in the next stage, and this work should be disrupted and innovative.
Deng Wei made the summary speech, he required project team members should seriously listen to the advices from MWR leaders, and make persistent efforts to successfully finish the nationwide freeze-thaw erosion census.
Accompanied by Deng Wei, delegation of Niu Chonghuan visited the scientific exhibition hall of IMHE after the meeting.
