CAS President Bai Chunli has put forward The International Outreach Initiatives (IOI) since 2012 when IMHE was also on the way of exploring how to upgrade her international image. Thanks to Bai Chunli and IOI, IMHE has finally depicted the international blueprint for the coming 10 years, i.e.The IMHE International Outreach Initiatives has come into being. 

IMHE’s IOI is divided into 5 sections including South Asia strategy, ASEAN Strategy, Japan and South Korea Strategy, European and American strategy, International Organization Strategy, in order of importance and urgency. The core objective of IOI is that IMHE aims to be one of the leaders in Asia, and one of the centers in the world, in view of its fast developing of natural hazards and environmental researches in the recent years. This ambitious goal will boost IMHE to devote itself completely into the international competition by the way of applying for international projects, holding and participating international conferences, developing international talents, constructing joint research centers,etc.

 

IMHE has launched the South Asia strategy since 2013 based on six international projects supported by Chinese government as well as international funds from ICIMOD and Australia. In the mean time, three international agreements have been put on the table and will guide this strategy progressing step by step.Other four strategies are also under discussion and advanced smoothly, respectively, in which the highlights should be the regional international organization -Asian Network on Debris Flow (ANDF), the plan of International Innovative group, and China-Italy Joint Research Center on Natural Hazards.
