Led by Prof. Liu Jian,director of International Ecosystem Management Partnership, UNEP, a delegation including Dr. Fareeha Iqbal from secretariat of Global Environment Facility (GEF), UNEP, Dr. ErmiraFida, director of Climate Change Adaptation Programme, UNEP, Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Mauritania, Ministry of Science and Technology of Nepal, and Prof. Liu Yi from Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS with others visited Yanting Agro-ecological Experimental Station of Purple Soil On June 14th, 2015.

 

                      UNEP Experts Visited Yanting Station

Prof. Zhu Bo, director of the Yanting Station introduced their experimental works undertaken in the Station such as cascaded eco-hydrological observations at small catchment scale,
greenhouse gases emission assessment and reduction trials, carbon and nitrogen cycling in agricultural system, greenhouse gases emission assessment and reduction trials,and scientific demonstration of water and soil conservation. Prof. Zhu also introduced someachievements of the Station in greenhouse gases emission reduction, climate change and nutrient management in agricultural system, soil and water conservation, and non-point pollution control.

Visitors from UNEP had a discussion on field research facilities of the Yanting Station, observation experiment of greenhouse gas emission reduction, and techniques popularization system of water and soil conservation with researchers working in the Yanting Station, and they put forwarded constructive suggestions on accelerating extensive application of achievements of the Yanting Station and being involved in making policyrecommendations to governments.
