Introduction of the speaker:
Vishwambhar Prasad Sati (D.Litt., Ph. D.) has been awarded Visiting Scientist, Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi (1012); Visiting Scholar, Academy of Sciences for Developing Countries (TWAS), Italy and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing (2010); General Fellow, Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi (2008-2009); Associate, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS), Shimla (2008); and Research Fellow, G. B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development, Almora (1993). He joined the Eritrea Institute of Technology, Asmara, Eritrea, Northeast Africa as Associate Professor and as Head of the Geography Department and worked from 2005 to 2007. At present, he is Professor of Geography and Resource Management in the Central University of Mizoram, Aizawl. He has completed 7 Research Projects funded by UGC, ICSSR and MAPCOST. He has published 20 Reference and Text Books, 74 Research Papers in journals of international and national repute and above 50 articles in magazines and newspapers. He has presented 70 research papers (25 in international conferences) and visited 13 countries (21 times). He has also served as Chairman, Board of Studies in Geography, Jiwaji University, supervised five Ph. D. theses and four Ph.D. students are under his supervision. His field of interest is ‘Mountain Environment and Development’ and ‘Natural Resources Management’.
