The project addresses four topics including Background Value of Ecological Environment and Estimate approach of Ecosystem of Plateau, Monitoring Technology of Ecological Security Barrier and Simulation to the Ecological Functions of Plateau, Monitoring and Evaluation of Impact of Project of Natural Forest Protection and Returning Grazing Land to Grass, and Comprehensive Evaluation Platform and Effect Evaluation of Ecological Security of Plateau.

“The project will conduct assessment of ecological security barrier using the methods of ground monitoring, remote sensing, and model simulation”, said CHENG Genwei, chief scientist of the project.

“The new drive of CAS meets national strategic need and is of great practical significance for the ecological security barrier of Tibet”, said FENG Renguo, deputy director-general of Bureau of Science and Technology for Resource and Environment, CAS. He emphasized that the project should prioritize its results application and bring benefits for Tibet.
