973 Project on “Mechanisms and Risk Analysis of Extremely Large Scale of Flash Flood and Debris Flow in Western China”, undertook by Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMHE, CAS) was accepted on January 9th, 2013.
Project team leader summarized the progress and achievement of two years’ research. Experts highly approved the research progress and agreed that the anticipant goal of this project has been achieved, especially made innovation and practicability in the disaster mitigation and prevention in mountain areas.

The meeting was presided over by IMHE Researcher Cui Peng, Chief Scientist of the project. Experts group was comprised of CAS academicians and researchers from many well-known domestic universities and institutes. Over 30 scientists attended the meeting.
